Home Up Our School Teaching Classes Community

April 29: Throughout April, girls from 5/6J have been travelling to Sydney Road Community School to take part in a music program. Today, the whole school was treated to a brilliant performance by the girls' band, as well as by students from Sydney Road. Our girls performed two songs (by Jet and The Beatles) and had the whole school dancing! Congratulations to our rock'n'roll stars Ella, Emily, Jana, Lara, Lauren, Natasha and Sian, and a big thank you to Sydney Road CS for making this opportunity available to our students.
April 24: The grade 2 FunFest was absolutely fantastic this year! Andy and Ursula took all the Grade 2s to Curtain Square Park for fun and games. There was a pirate theme and kids won treasure and pirate hats and accessories throughout the afternoon. All the children were in high spirits, singing and skipping as they walked to and from the park. Back at school, they had some relaxing time before pizza dinner. Afterwards, Andy put on his DJ hat and hosted a disco in the hall. This was followed by a camp fire near the peppercorn trees. There were toasted marshmallows, games, jokes and stories.  Finally, everyone returned to the hall for hot chocolate while the children waited for their parents to come. It was a fantastic event and great for the two grades to be playing and celebrating together. Unfortunately, all the teachers forgot to bring their cameras! But here is Noah’s drawing of the campfire.

April 18: Brunswick South families filled the Palace Theatre, Westgarth for our Film Night (Horton Hears a Who). As always, the night was a sell-out success. Everyone had a great time, especially the children who danced in front of the screen at the end - now a Film Night tradition! Thank you to Marg (P/1RM) for organising this fun social event.

April 18: Grade 5/6 students visited Brunswick Secondary College as part of our transition to secondary school program. They took part in an orientation activity and a dance class, and were treated to a fantastic performance of Sleeping Beauty by the VCE drama class. The children had a wonderful morning and returned to school very enthusiastic about high school life. The program is very important in ensuring a smooth and worry-free transition to secondary schooling, and we are very grateful to Brunswick Secondary College for making our students feel so welcome.

April 7: Welcome back to school! We hope that the holidays were relaxed and happy, and that all students and teachers are full of energy and ready to start learning in Term 2. A special welcome to Andy Picker, who has joined us as a classroom teacher in Grade 2.
