Brunswick South Primary School has a children’s choir and a parents and friends choir.

Children's Choir

The children’s choir runs on Tuesday mornings for ˝ an hour and is non-compulsory. It is open to children from grades 2-6. There are no auditions for our choir – it is a non competitive, open learning environment. In choir we focus on community music, including songs from Thursday Island, Yorta Yorta people, Ghana,  and music by Bob Marley and Johnny Cash among other. We use a range of activities and games to teach the children three principals: breathing, control and cohesion. In 2007 the children performed at the school fete, a School of Rock event and school assemblies. This year we are hoping to spread our love of song throughout the community by visiting aged care facilities and sharing songs with them.

Parents and Friends Choir

The parents and friends of Brunswick South Primary School have set up an adult choir which runs on Thursday evenings from 7.30-9pm, in the hall at the school. People in the community are welcome to come along and sign up – we have a $20 joining fee, which covers wine and song scores which we source from various places. We have a wide variety of music and all members contribute ideas and concepts in a collaborative effort that has already had some fantastic results. We are very lucky to have an experienced piano player to keep us in tune. The objective of the choir is to have a good bit of fun, and make a beautiful sound. This choir does not have auditions, we are community minded and based.

We are working towards performances and are happy to hear from anyone willing to give us a chance to perform at their event.
