Benvenuto al programma Italiano!
Brunswick South offers Italian for one hour a week
to all students from Prep - Grade 6. The program
aims to develop students' specific Italian language skills through
listening to, reading, writing and speaking
Italian,
and to broaden their
awareness of Italian culture.
The program also assists students
to develop a general positive attitude towards learning other languages.
The program is
planned in conjunction with classroom teachers and is organised, where
possible, around the themes or units of work taught in the classroom
program.
Whole school Italian events, such as the celebration of Carnevale, are
also part of the program. Children also participate in excursions,
incursions and performances.
Classes are conducted in Italian, with children "immersed" in the
language from their first class. The classes are activity based, using
stories, songs, games, multi-media, video, audio tapes and grammar
exercises to develop oral and written language skills.
