July 29: Today we celebrated National Tree Planting Day with the assistance of the Carlton Football Club. The Grade 5-6 children, along with their Prep buddies, planted a number of fruit trees around the oval and senior playground. They were also treated to a skills clinic with footballers Jordan Bannister and Dave Ellard. We are very proud of the fruit and vegetables grown by the children at Brunswick South, and look forward to our new trees flourishing over the coming years.
July 22: The Grades 5-6 children spent "A Day in Pompeii" at the Melbourne Museum today. They attended the "Slave's Eye View" presentation, before moving on to the marvellous exhibition itself. They were fascinated by the 3-D movie of the destruction of Pompeii and very moved by the body casts of people buried by the explosion. Thanks to Lucy for arranging the excursion and to Andy, Brett, Jenny and Kate for supervising the children on the day.
