School Council
Home Up Our School Teaching Classes News and Events

School Council is a legally constituted body that is responsible to the Department of Education and has a major role in determining school policy and monitoring the operations of the school. Council consists of the Principal, two other DET employees, five elected parents and two co-opted members. It meets regularly (at least eight times a year), with one meeting being held jointly with the student members of the Junior School Council. All parents are welcome to attend Council meetings and to raise any issues of concern with Council members.

The Standing Orders of Council may be viewed here.

Council also has a number of sub-committees to help manage its responsibilities and to broaden the base of parental and community input and support:

Finance Sub-committee: Monitors all finances and oversees budgeting within the school

SACC Sub-committee: Monitors and supports the Before and After School Care programs

Education & Policy Sub-committee: Monitors and reviews policy development and curriculum programs in the school

Environment Sub-committee: Co-ordinates the maintenance and development of buildings, play grounds, shade areas and gardens

Fundraising Sub-committee: Co-ordinates all fundraising and publicising of the school.

Decisions of Council are communicated to parents through our newsletter and by members of Council at our Monday assemblies. Council also actively seeks input from families on a range of issues, through surveys and our school "Ideas Box".
